Geologists call this petrified forest, "one of the finest examples of a pliocene fossil forest in the world." The petrified forest was created from a long ago volcanic eruption, followed by torrential rains which brought giant mudflows of volcanic ash from the eruption site to entomb the felled giants/trees. The 1/2 mile round trip meadow tour shows some of the petrified trees. Your leashed dog is welcome. Admission prices are $5 for adults, less for seniors and children, and FREE for dogs. Prices are subject to change.
