Belleville Ghost Town

Holcomb Valley Road
Big Bear Lake,
California

Get Map or Directions

Belleville Ghost Town, located in Holcomb Valley, is one of the old Southern California ghost towns. To get there, you'll take a dirt road, but it is rated a 2 wheel drive road meaning you don't necessarily need a 4WD. At the ghost town, you'll find the old saloon, mining equipment, hanging tree, mines, graves and foundations. This ghost town is located within a National Forest which means you and your pup are welcome to walk or hike on almost any of the trails (the Pacific Crest Trail is the exception). To get there from the northeast corner of Big Bear Lake, take Hwy 38 east and turn left onto Van Dusen Canyon Road. Once on this road, you'll travel about 4-5 miles on a dirt road. When the road ends (there is a campground to the left), turn right on Holcomb Valley Road. The ghost town of Belleville will be approx. less than 1 mile on the right. Go during the late spring through fall when there is no snow.
