Downtown Palo Alto is a nice area to walk with your leashed dog. There are many shops and outdoor restaurants that line University Ave. Some of the stores allow dogs inside, like Restoration Hardware. However, please ask the store clerk before bringing your dog inside each store just in case their policies have changed. Enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the many nearby outdoor cafes (see Restaurants).
