Try this pleasant ski or snowshoeing trip through a meadow surrounded by a scenic forest. Here are directions from the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit: From Highway 89, two miles south of Tahoe City, turn on Fountain Ave. just north of William Kent Campground. Turn right on Pine Ave., left on Tahoe Park Heights Dr., right on Big Pine Dr. and left on Silvertip. Park along the street where the snowplowing ends. Parking is extremely limited. Ski down the road to the meadow. There are no designated trails. Snowmobiles are not allowed. You'll need to bring your own skis or snowshoes.
