Telegraph Ave

Telegraph Ave Telegraph Ave Berkeley, California
Map
Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley is a colorful multi-cultural center. There are numerous boutiques, street vendors, artists and street performers set up along the sidewalks of Telegraph Avenue between Bancroft Way and Dwight Way. It can be quite busy here, so make sure your pup is okay in crowds. Thanks to one of our readers for the following information: "There is an ordinance prohibiting more than two 'stationary' dogs within ten feet of each other on a certain part of Telegraph Avenue. This ordinance is aimed at the homeless, and I've never personally seen it enforced in the two or so years of existence... The most likely consequence of violating the ordinance is being asked to move your dog. A more serious concern to me would be bringing a not-yet-fully immunized young puppy to the area, where it might me more likely to get parvo, etc/ from a dog that has not received much if any veterinary care." To get there from Hwy 880 heading north, take the Hwy 980 exit towards Hwy 24/Walnut Creek. Then take the Hwy 24 exit on the left towards Berkeley/Walnut Creek. Exit at Claremont Ave and turn left onto Claremont Ave. Make a slight left onto College Ave. Turn left onto Dwight Way. Then turn right onto Telegraph Ave. Parking can be very difficult except maybe during the summer and University holidays.
