This park covers 160 square acres, has America's largest mixed grass prairies, and is home to the Badlands National Monument. Highway 240 is the Badlands Loop Scenic Byway and is 31 1/2 miles long with 14 lookouts. Dogs are not allowed on any of the trails in the park. They are allowed only at the campground or the parking lots. The contact station for the Cedar Pass Campground is on Highway 240, and this campground has an amphitheater. The other campground, White River, has a visitor's center on Highway 27. The campgrounds are open year round, and there are no hook-ups at either camp. Dogs of all sizes are allowed in the campgrounds. There are no additional fees. Dogs may not be left unattended outside, and only inside if it creates no danger to the pet. Dog must be leashed and cleaned up after.
