Home to the largest wintering bison herd in the refuge system and the longest herd migration of elk in the lower US, this site also provides interpretive programs, up close viewing, a wide variety of flora and fauna, and various recreational pursuits. Dogs are allowed on paved and gravel roads and trails in the refuge; they are not allowed on back country trails. Dogs must be leashed at all times. There is a dog walking area at the visitor center on N Cash Street, and they suggest stopping there first for information and maps.'s Sponsor's Sponsor
