Comments:Ruff Mutter? Field Day for Dogs kicks off with a 1-Mile K-nine walk for dogs and their humans around the dog park (9am walk ? registration at 8am). Dogs are given a racing bib number and will be ?timed? as if they are participating in an actual race! Prizes for top dog across the finish line. (all dogs must walk ? if you carry your dog, you are disqualified!)Following the race will be the Field Day component that includes the following fun stations:? Be Good: Agility, Training, and Behavior (tips with local trainers)? Feel Good: Health Tips, Nutrition, and Grooming (vets, groomers, food)? Working Dog: Ball Fetch Relay, Frisbee Competition, and Doggie Scavenger HuntFood Truck/Vendor: Hot Dogs (of course); coffee/juice and Vendors with pet-related items.Admission: Free to field day activities; $15 advance registration to participate in 1-Mile Race with a portion going to SAVE A Friend To Homeless Animals, Princeton, NJ. $18 registration day of event.

Greyhound Friends of NJ 18th Annual Craft Show & Pet Expo

Comments:Greyhound Friends of New Jersey?s (GFNJ) 18th Annual Craft Show & Pet Expo will return to the Westfield Armory, 500 Rahway Ave. in Westfield on Nov. 15 and 16. Hours are Saturday from 9 am-5 pm and Sunday from 10 am-4 pm. Admission is $6, a $1.00 discount coupon is available on-line, children 12 and under are free.

GFNJ?s largest fundraiser of the year, the Craft Show will feature an array of vendors offering a wide variety of items for people and pets, an exciting raffle, and a bake sale. Santa will be there to pose for digital photos with pets and their people. Have lunch in ?The Grey Caf?? and pick up holiday gifts for the whole family. Leashed pets are welcome.

The Craft Show & Pet Expo offers the public an opportunity to meet and learn about retired racing greyhounds and preapproved applicants can choose a new family member and finalize the adoption.

Weekend presentations include: a brief history of greyhounds by Pat Horan on Saturday at 10 am; a presentation on Spanish Galgos and Podencos on Saturday at 1 pm; and ?Ick! Is that a tick? Pests, Parasites and Preventatives? by Ellen Ganopoulos on Sunday at 11 am.

Lead sponsors of this year?s event include NorthStar VETS of Robbinsville, SAFE/Valley Veterinary Hospital of Phoenixville, PA, Round Valley Animal Hospital, Lebanon, and Abba Products Corp, Hillside.

Proceeds from the Craft Show & Pet Expo help defray the transportation and veterinary costs of the hundreds of greyhounds that Greyhound Friends of New Jersey welcomes each year. Matching retired racers with families for more than 28 years, GFNJ provides each dog with spay/neuter surgery, updated inoculations, heartworm testing, and dental care before being placed in an adoptive home.
